Description
Sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance
In May of this year, Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler announced that for the first time the economic impact of North Carolina’s agriculture and agribusiness industry has topped $100 billion, reaching a new record of $103.2 billion. This number reflects the economic value of growing, processing and delivering food, natural fiber and forestry products and is calculated using the latest USDA statistics.
Agriculture is North Carolina’s No. 1 industry, employing about one fifth of the state’s workforce. What's the outlook for this industry? And how is agriculture and agribusiness faring in Alamance County and how does it stack up with our other growth?
This year's Economic Summit featuring Ray Starling, general counsel of the NC Chamber, and president of the NC Legal Institute, will provide an overview of agriculture in North Carolina. Local farmers and agriculture experts will share insights on what it will take to keep this industry going...and growing!...in Alamance County.
