Joining us will be Dr. Mandy Cohen, Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and Dr. Mary Jo Cagle, Chief Operating Officer of Cone Health. Stacie Saunders, Health Director for the Alamance County Health Department will serve as emcee for the conversation.

Mandy K. Cohen, MD, MPH
Secretary, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
Dr. Mandy Cohen was appointed to the role of Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in January 2017 by Governor Roy Cooper. Secretary Cohen and her team work tirelessly to improve the health, safety and well-being of all North Carolinians. DHHS has 17,000 employees and an annual budget of $20 billion serving as the home to NC Medicaid, Public Health, Mental Health/IDD/SUD, State Operated Hospitals and Facilities, Economic Services, Adult and Child Services, Early Childhood Education, Employment Services, and Health Services Regulation. Secretary Cohen and her team are focused on building a strong, efficient Medicaid program, improving early childhood health, safety and education and combatting the opioid crisis. Mary Jo Cagle, MD
Chief Operating Officer, Cone Health
As the chief operating officer at Cone Health, Mary Jo Cagle, MD, is responsible for the daily operations of the fully integrated health system. Dr. Cagle joined Cone Health in January 2011 as executive vice president and chief quality officer. In 2012 she became Chief Medical Officer and was then promoted to COO.
She previously was chief medical officer at Bon Secours St. Francis in Greenville, South Carolina. She was a physician partner at Greenville East Center for Women. While in South Carolina, she served on the South Carolina Hospital Association Patient Safety Committee. Download her full bio here.
